BAKING: Easter Medley Tray-Bake

A baking blog post – by me? Is this actually happen? It appears so. Last week I did some baking despite the fact I’m appalling at it well it didn’t involve an oven so. Seen as Easter is now over and the large majority of us will have loads of chocolate cluttering up our fridges I thought I’d share with you a little idea in order to throw it all into a creation and eat it all as quickly as possible I mean it’s summer soon who needs the temptation of a Malteser Easter egg?

So to begin with the standard items you’ll need 100g of margarine, 3 tblspoon of golden syrup and 300g of chocolate – if you want to get rid of some Easter eggs to do this bit then that would work too! You’ll also need 200g of digestive biscuits no need to splash out on the McVities! Now this is where your choice comes in – I used 200g of Mini Eggs and about 100g of maltesers but if you are creatively inclined and want to experiment – go for it!

  • Step One: Melt the margarine and the golden syrup in a pan on the hob until it’s all nice and mixed.

I used all the golden syrup but I think I’d actually recommend not using as much as it seemed a bit ‘soggy’

  • Step Two: Put the digestives, maltesers and 100g of mini eggs into a sealed bag and bash away until it’s all crushed
  • Step three: Begin to melt the chocolate either on the hob or in the microwave – I found doing it in sections was better rather than throwing it all in!
  • Step four: Whilst keeping a close eye on the chocolate, move back over to the margarine and syrup and mix in the bashed up mixture until its all mixed in
  • Step Five: You will then need to grease a tray and pour the mixture into the bottom of it and then flatten and smooth it all out nicely
  • Step Six: Once the chocolate is all melted, you then need to pour it over the top of that mixture in the tray again smoothing and flattening it all out!
  • Step Seven: Take the reminder of your mini eggs and again bash them all under before sprinkling them on top of the chocolate
  • Step Eight: Finally put the tray into the fridge and leave to set until its hard – I feel this will vary so just do what you think is right.

DONE! Share them around your family and feel relieved at the fact that you no longer have tempting chocolate lying in your fridge!

Sleep Hypnosis: Does it really work?

Sleep is a topic that has been discussed SO much recently. Only the other day I was watching the news when it was discussing the rising rates of children and adults with insomnia and difficultly sleeping – I 100% fall amongst this category and recently I’ve struggled ridiculously with my sleeping pattern only getting to sleep sometimes at like 6 which is awful! One thing I’ve tried and tested in order to help me is sleep hypnosis.

I do engage in sleep hypnosis quite often sometimes multiple times a week so I think I do have a lot of experiences on whether or not it works so I wanted to share these experiences with you and hopefully help out some of you who struggle like me.

The way I do this is through YouTube – late one night before Christmas I was just willing to try anything so I just googled sleep hypnosis and tried it out. From what I remember it partially worked I fell asleep and then woke up later. Since then I’ve tried it many a times and sometimes it really has saved my life and got me to sleep. However I do feel that it only works if you are already quite tired, I generally only use it when I’ve already been up for ages so at that point I am already shattered! But when I’ve tried it say as soon I’ve gone to bed it hasn’t worked mainly because I’m not at the point of being overly tired.

Personally, I’d recommend Michael Sealey on YouTube as I’ve found he is the best – he has so many different types of sleep hypnosis, some I like and some I just don’t but I think it’s a case of trial and error to find the best for you.
Have you ever tried sleep hypnosis or have any tips on dealing with insomnia?

But since we have to go through a week of excruciating pain, here are a few tips to survive it, or atleast the things that help me get through it. Might help for you as well!

How To: Make a Vision Board

I picked this ‘How to’ as I don’t think you need to be artistic to do one – just a little imagination. Ok and these few bits to make it…

  • A piece of card the bigger the better
  • Cuttings from magazines/photos/quotes that inspire you.
  • Something to stick it all to the card…pritt stick will do.

I guess that a vision board is a bit like a goal board as you put on there all the things you want out of life and aim on achieving each and every one. It’s such a lovely idea, anyone at any age can do one and it’s therapeutic at the same time. I am still in the process of making mine so here’s a few different variations that I found.
